Save The Murals says the St Petersburg City Council

Grahar Second Street LLC went before the St Petersburg City Council this month regarding their Sonata Condominiums planned to replace the Piano Exchange Building at 232 Second St. N. The 1920s Spanish Mission style building has dozens of murals on its interior walls, painted in the 1930s or 1940s by George Snow Hill. The City Council required Grahar to make the murals available to anyone wanting to acquire and restore them, prior to demolishing the building. The EDC back in April also required that the murals be preserved. St. Pete Preservation is helping the developer find a home for these murals of tropical scenes and wildlife.
