Recent $5,600,000 Tampa sale still doesn’t match Pinellas County

A near-record sale just closed in Tampa when Joel Glazer, Executive Vice President of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers football team, purchased his waterfront home on Harbour Island in March for $5,600,000. The only residential sale that has topped that in Tampa was a home built by Alvarez Homes in Avila, which sold in 2001 for $5,800,000.
Interestingly, the record residential sale in Pinellas County, Florida, was also in 2001 when a waterfront home in Belleair sold for $7,800,000.
Public records generally don’t show the value of newly constructed homes since they are usually a private contract between the owner and the builder. A home on Brightwaters Blvd (Snell Isle) in St Petersburg sold in 2006 for $5,100,000. It was a historic home that needed major updating, and the owners have spent the last two years renovating the property.
