Experience the Costa Rica lifestyle
January 16th, 2009 categories: Costa Rica

Many places in Costa Rica have an impressive gate, perhaps some roads, and renderings of what’s planned to be there. Sorry – that’s not enough for me to be comfortable. I want to see, touch and feel – and understand the quality of the finished product. Here at del Pacifico in Esterillo Este you can see condominiums and single family homes that are already built – and you can even stay in a typical one so that you really get to know it. There are a final two condominiums in this first phase, or you can reserve a position in the next phase, to be located on the next hill over.

When the temperatures get cold up north (and even Florida is having a cold spell right now) it’s nice to have daily temperatures ranging from 70 to 84 F. ![]()

It’s time to show more clients real estate opportunities in Costa Rica – after they return on Monday, I’ll head up to the northern Pacific region of Guanacaste to check out that area as well.

Sharon and Tami are attending the annual CyberStar Summit which this year is being held in Scottsdale, Arizona. Over 100 top technology-using real estate agents are here with their laptops, sharing ideas on what works and what doesn’t. Attendees are here from all over the country, from Alaska to Florida, from Maine to Hawaii. Tech exchanges started at 6 pm, over breakfast before the 7 am beginning, and though the official ending time is 5 pm, conversations will continue through dinner, and for the hardy few – well into the night. Topics include property websites, photography tips, social networking, iPhone tips, and many, many more.

ALVA’s awning is up
January 11th, 2009 categories: Downtown St Petersburg
ALVA International, Inc. has its new awning up, so you can tell it’s a real estate company instead of an optical shop. We still have cards with the new address for Beach Drive Optical, though, for their previous customers who stop to look for them.
ALVA International is located at 238 Beach Drive NE in downtown St Petersburg, Florida, just across from the Museum of Fine Arts (between Bruce Watters Jewelers and The Cloisters condominium). ALVA (owned by Sharon Simms, the broker) is the new home of The Simms Team: Sharon Simms, Tami Simms-Powel, Rob Johnson and Amy Grashel.

Landscaping is going in
January 5th, 2009 categories: Teardown Chronicle
If you want to have a home look like it belongs – you need to plant appropriately sized trees and plants. Putting in a 5 gallon tree in front of a three story house and waiting for it to grow would look silly and out of place. Often it’s the landscaping that helps a new home fit into the neighborhood.

Junior Sailing Classes at the St Petersburg Sailing Center
January 3rd, 2009 categories: Downtown St Petersburg, Lifestyle
Today was a beautiful balmy day for learning to sail in downtown St Petersburg. The St Petersburg Sailing Center on Demens Landing is a joint venture by the City of St Petersburg and the St Petersburg Yacht Club. Live music from the Saturday Morning Market provided a pleasant background. The Sailing Center has produced an Olympic gold medalist and a World Champions as well as several All-Americans. For many kids, it’s just about learning to sail and having fun. Some go on to excel at racing, and others just enjoy the cameraderie of other sailors.

Happy New Year 2009!
My lack of blogging the last month hasn’t been lack of interest, it’s been orchestrating change. The Simms Team left RE/MAX Metro, excited about the new possibilities, but sad about leaving some great people – though we’re only 2 blocks away so we should still be in contact.
We formed ALVA International, Inc., our own real estate company. Our new phone is (727) 898-2582 (898-ALVA) though our old phones will still reach us. Our new location – which we’re so excited about – is at 238 Beach Drive NE, right across Read the rest of this entry »
