Characteristics of a historic St Petersburg bungalow
April 8th, 2009 categories: Downtown St Petersburg
There are few single family homes in the heART of downtown St Petersburg Florida – this one is actually zoned as an office building. Note the hexagonal blocks in the walkway leading up to the house. The tiled steps and porch would normally be wood. This is typical of the 1910s buildings, but was built in 1923.
Note these characteristics of a historic bungalow
Wide roof overhangs
Exposed roof raftersFront porch extending the width of the house
Dormer with gable roof
Crenelated block foundation and/or piers
Tapered columns (usually square – these are round)
Asphalt shingle roof
Small cottage look and feel
The downtown historic district of St Petersburg was established in April 2004.

Hi Sharon ~ Made my way here via the 31 day challenge. Sure is a *lot* to wade through there – I haven’t even made it to AR yet.
This is a beautiful bungalow! I did a post on bungalows in my neck of the woods too – it’s one of my favorite house styles. But there are no palm trees in my pictures!
