Beach Drive restaurants in downtown St Petersburg Florida have great food, great views, and good variety. Most of the restaurants have outside seating as well as indoor dining, so you can take your pick, depending on your mood and the weather. The west side of Beach Drive NE is a mixture of restaurants, luxury condos, shops, offices and art galleries. On sunny days Beach Drive is a kaleidoscope of awnings, shading the dining tables. Starting south from Fifth Avenue north, there’s

In the parks you’ll find the Museum of Fine Arts and the St Petersburg Yacht Club.  The Museum has the MFA Café with outdoor and indoor seating and of course the yacht club has several indoor and outdoor dining choices for its members.

All of these are within two blocks of The Simms Team real estate office ALVA International, Inc at 238 Beach Drive NE. Downtown St Petersburg Florida is a great walking city. Our office, for example, has a Walkscore of 97 out of 100. It’s wonderful to be able to live in downtown St Petersburg Florida and be able to walk everywhere.

Cassis restaurant opens in downtown St Petersburg

Cassis Brasserie in downtown St Petersburg

Cassis Brasserie in downtown St Petersburg

Last night we attended the Grand Opening party at Cassis – we were welcomed by managers Jean Thibault & Catherine Thibault and had a magnificent evening. Cassis is part of Ovation, a luxury condominium in downtown St Petersburg, at Beach Drive NE and 2nd Ave NE. There’s seating for about 150 inside and 125 outside. It really reminded me of a brasserie in Paris. Lots of windows to Read the rest of this entry »

Cafe 100 in downtown St Petersburg

Cafe 100 downtown St PetersburgCafé 100 in downtown St Petersburg was the first destination on our Mother-Daughter Morning today. Tami and I went over to Cafe 100 on the ground floor of the Northern Trust Building as part of our search for breakfast options in downtown St Pete.  Lonnie greeted us warmly on a cold morning and explained their many choices,  even telling us the portion sizes so we wouldn’t over order. How about a breakfast special?  2 eggs with bacon or sausage plus potatoes or grits or oatmeal, plus toast, plus coffee – all for $3.50. Check out the Café 100 menu online. They open at 7 am. Oh, yes – we had a great meal. You can check reviews at Urban Spoon.

A peek in the window at 400 Beach – St Petersburg Florida

Draftsman at workThe workshop at 400 Beach

An early morning glimpse of work beginning in the space at the northeast corner of 400 Beach in downtown St Petersburg.  It’s almost like Santa’s workshop – there are no signs. A drafting table with plans is set up in the unfinished space and pipes are being laid. It must be the beginning of 400 Beach Seafood and Tap House, the new restaurant being developed by Steve Westphal of Parkshore Grill fame.

Scheduled to open on February 15th, 2009, this seafood companion to Parkshore Grill should be an instant success with the same ownership and management, the same sidewalk dining across from the park and Vinoy yacht basin.

Click on the photo and see a little more.

Downtown St Petersburg: another view

Downtown St Petersburg experienced as “a tourist” was the topic of a recent blog post by Shakespeare’s Sister. She and her husband spent the weekend at Inn at the Bay and enjoyed downtown St Pete. Moon Under Water and Paciugo’s gelaterie were restaurant stops, and they enjoyed the Saturday morning market, SPIFFS St Petersburg International Folk Fair and the Festival of Speeds. Check her post for impressions and photos.
