Landscaping is going in

If you want to have a home look like it belongs – you need to plant appropriately sized trees and plants. Putting in a 5 gallon tree in front of a three story house and waiting for it to grow would look silly and out of place. Often it’s the landscaping that helps a new home fit into the neighborhood.

Now that the exterior and the roof are done, there’s not much difference to see in driving by each evening. Through the windows you can see the interior partitions going up, and here you can see that the front door has been installed on the ground floor.
According to FEMA requirements, a small entry foyer is allowed on the ground level.

The roofing has been installed over the roof deck. This is the actual roofing – the tiles that will be installed later are decorative, though they also serve to protect the roofing from the sun and elements.

The new waterfront home in St Petersburg (you can see the boat when you look through the house) is now starting to have the interior work done. The interior studs have been installed and now you can see the wallboard installed in this portion of the ground level. Although this ground level is not “living space”, a small foyer is allowed to be finished and air conditioned. The remainder of the ground level is garage and storage space.

After a long holiday weekend, the house construction goes on. Most of the roof decking is done, now the smaller sections need to be finished.

Teardown Chronicle – Day 44 (61) Roof decking nearly complete

This was a busy week in the Broadwater neighborhood of St Petersburg, Florida. The roof decking on this new home is nearly complete. If you click on the photo a larger one will pop up, and you can see that this is anything but a rectangular block home. The ground level is garages and storage, above that is the main living level with a large balcony overlooking the waterfront, and the top level is a master suite with office/den and a balcony.
